Gonna Blow This Popsicle Joint!

I never noticed until now how...dirty...that sounds. Hmm. Anyway, onto the meat and potatoes! (Can you tell that I'm hungry?)

My boss told me on Friday that some people ("of course not naming any names!") came to him and said that I "firt too much" with my friend Chris. (Because we quote Eddie Izzard daily and sing songs. This is apparently flirting.) And that I stand around and do nothing.

First of all, I HAVE to find a way to make work enjoyable. The ONLY reason that I am still with Starbucks is because of my co-workers. The company always hires the craziest people with the best personalities. So I like to sing (badly, I'll add) and do bad British accents. This makes people uncomfortable? They think it distracts me?

I would now like to say that I, every night, sweep and mop the lobby floors, which is a boring and gross job. But it's my job. No other shift supervisor does that at my store. Most people actually make fun of me for it, because I'm in a position of power and "shouldn't have to mop". But between 9:30 and 10:00, there isn't anything else for me to do (as I can't touch the money and the drive-thru still has customers) so I do that job for my baristas. Because no one likes to do it. I'll even clean the bathroom from time to time! (Which has lately included cleaning up vomit. Nice.)

I think it's a little unfair to say that I "stand around and do nothing". In fact, I think it's VERY unfair. I know that whoever said that to my manager is a hypocrite and simply needs something to complain about. I don't let ANYBODY stand around on my shift. I dole out projects like it's nobody's business. Grrr...

So now I feel like I'm being punished for trying to make work enjoyable. All because my manager is a gossip-monger and feels like he needs to address EVERY rumor that he hears. Do I think that's professional? Not in the slightest. And it makes me want to step down for the last three months that I have to be there. Hopefully I can find another job sooner because I don't want to deal with anymore immature bull-shit. Seriously.
