Bonjour! Je m'appelle Devan!

So my freak-out before the semester started about my course load is looking for be for nought. My first novel doesn't have to be finished until next Wednesday (and I'm half done!), my honors reading is really short (and interesting!), and we're only doing short stories in ENG 200 right now.

That, and I have hours to sit in front of the fireplace in the MU and read or do homework.

And really, reading is all that I've been doing.

The Diviners by Margaret Laurence is fabulous, by the way. It's an odd style; almost reminds me of Haruki Murakami, but Canadian...and the plot is about a woman and her life and attempts to "let go of her crazy daughter". For 400 pages, I am flying through it. (And let's not forget that it was assigned by my awesome new Canadian Lit. professor who grinned when a few of us mentioned our love of Margaret Atwood.)

While I get nervous sometimes by how much stuff I have to do and how much I'm working, nights off (like tonight) where I can get everything accomplished a little early make me feel much more confident.

I want to do a lot better at keeping up with homework and not slacking off (not that I did this too often last semester, but I had my moments. And it cost me my A in Human Event) so I will be practicing French, reading literature (Canadian, British, or otherwise...), and pondering the Scientific Revolution and Globalization as if my life depends on it. Fo sho.

I LOVED sitting in front of the fireplace at the MU. This post makes me wax nostalgic for my "good old college days". So glad you are doing well. And whats this about a boyfriend?!
