Hooray for Fridays....Kinda
So today I was almost late in leaving the house, my ipod wasn't charged, and I opted to take a tumbler full of tea with me to classes. I had to carry that damn thing around ALL morning. But I did get a 97% on my first math test (yay! Mrs. Bunger and Mr. O'Bryan should be SO proud of me) and found out that I am slowly but steadily falling behind in Latin because I missed that one day. I don't know how to conjugate verbs and that's all that we've been doing....awesome.
For English, we have our first big paper due this Monday before noon, and the essay is analytical over one of the essays/articles in our textbook. Being the nerd that I am, I chose the one called "Lies My History Teacher Told Me" which was enlightening. The author...can't remember his name right now, made a very good argument as to why kids are bored in history and why it's important that they be engaged in it. And then there was an except from his book that talk about all of the falsehoods of Thanksgiving and the settling in the Plymouth Plantation. He mentioned a lot of textbooks that had problems (even "The American Pageant"...I was sad but not surprised that it had issues. Ha ha) and theories that we just plain wrong.
It was a REALLY good essay. So I'm kind of excited to write a paper about how much I agree with him. :)
And then I get to write a feminist film review and a five-page paper on ancient cultural values and what I think of them. Should be an interesting weekend. Not to mention that Saturday (tomorrow) is Talk Like a Pirate Day! Argghhhh....
